Story

behind the band

It all started with a jam at the Custom Café, where Jim and Graham discovered they shared more than a love of bluesy grooves and rock that refuses to sit quietly in the corner. The chemistry was obvious, and before long the pair had a plan: find a handful of equally passionate musicians and build something of their own.

Enter Ian

Quiet, unassuming and seemingly happy to let the music do the talking, Ian had a musical talent that Jim and Graham quickly spotted. They wasted no time in bringing him into the fold, effectively signing him before the rest of the world had caught on to what he could do.

And so, with three musicians united by a love of blues, rock and a good groove, the foundations of Route 259 were laid. What started as a jam between a couple of like-minded musicians soon became the beginning of something considerably louder... and considerably more fun.

Craig 'Messy' Devlin doesn’t just hold down the bottom end. He drives it, locks his bass in with the drums and helps give Route 259 that dirty, grooving engine room that keeps everything moving.

Josh may be new to the local music scene, but he’s certainly not short on talent. He brings bags of energy, feel and natural ability to the drums, and we’re pretty excited to see where he takes the Route 259 sound.

The Custom Cafe is located on an A road known locally as 'Marsh Road,' officially the A259. This location inspired Jim to name the band ROUTE 259.
